Title: Is there an aftermarket replacement for . . .?
Post by: Soberjoe on March 15, 2020, 05:11:40 PM
I finally gathered the courage to tackle rebuilding the original Carter Quadrajet that came as factory equipment on my 1969 GTO.
I purchased your SR carburetor kit as well as your book and after only 2 short phone calls to have my newbie questions answered the carb is back together and come spring I will be bolting it onto the original cast manifold and testing the fruits of my labor.
I have, however, one more question: the plastic fast idle cam is cracked in 2 places and I am wondering if there is a metal aftermarket replacement part, or if I should just hope for the best with the original plastic part?

Oh, I will have an Edelbrock 4 barrel paperweight available soon, hahaha . . .  ;D

The later metal fast idle cams will replace the early variety except the ones that use the small roll pin on the shaft to raise it......
