Title: 17080213 - correct carb to manifold gasket
Post by: bcarlson78248 on April 30, 2020, 07:22:53 AM
When I pulled my carburetor off to check the float level I realized that the carb to intake gasket I have is one that covers the recessed areas on the front bottom of the carburetor base.  I also noticed in my leftover parts that I have a couple of Quadrajet gaskets that are cut out to uncover this area.

I think the larger coverage gasket was one I got with a rebuild kit I bought from you several years ago, and the cutout gasket may have been the original from my truck, but I'm not sure.   Which gasket should I be using with a 17080213, or does it matter?

I attached a picture (not of my carburetor) where the gasket with a cutout is on the left on the carburetor base, and the larger coverage gasket is shown off to the right.

Thanks,

Bruce

It really doesn't matter, either one would work fine....

For Chevy carburetors 1971 thru 1979 I include the type on the left in our rebuild kits.  For 1980-up I put the type on the right in them.

If I run out of either one I'll substitute the other as it really doesn't matter and no negatives in actual use from doing so........Cliff
