Title: WOT to rich on my stage 2 Q Jet
Post by: pega_de on July 17, 2020, 10:03:45 AM
Hello,

I have a 17058266 Rochester QJet (1978 Pontiac T/A - W72), stage 2 overhauled.

Idle is perfect
Cruise is perfect too
but WOT is much to rich with Lambda 0,6 / AFR around 10.

Secondary rods are the "DA".

What can I do to lean it a bit?

kind regards,

Marco

You may use a set of CK sec. rods too lean out WOT somewhat.
And make sure float is not set too high.
I have found original 17/32" setting works fine with proper fuel delivery to carb, higher settings only result in worse milage.

yes, we readjustet the fuel delivery.

Next what we try is to adjust the air doors. If it don't help, I try the CK rods.

The problem is, when we change from cruising to higher RPMs, the eninge got a very hihgh AFR (10) and a big power loss, after a bit we get the power back.

Short update, I've used a different hanger, and it works great.
