I have a 1970 455 out of a Toronado, now in a 1970 Cutlass.  Motor is fresh, 9.5:1 CR, iron heads, Lunati 221/230 @ .050 on 112.  Edelbrock Performer using the original 7040252 carb rebuilt with Cliffs rebuild kit.  All the internals are stock including the primary jetting.  Well plugs are epoxied.  Float set to

I don't know why it cuts off for some. But I suspect the idle is a bit lean with the bigger cam.
