Title: Secondary well restrictions
Post by: jagness on November 18, 2020, 09:56:32 AM
I'm working on a 17080249 that was previously modified by someone else. Most of the mods were done pretty well, but they drilled the secondary well restrictions out to .071-.072 (a #50 bit fits loose, but a #49 won't go in). Has anyone tried to install set screws in this area? I have a lathe and have drilled set screws to repair IABs in other quadrajets, but never the secondary well restrictions. Is there a better way to fix this problem?

...I have drilled them out and tapped for 8/32" brass set screws, which I redrilled to .039"
...it worked out fine.

I reduce them to smaller sizes on occasion.  I use a #4-40 brass set screw pre-drilled before I install it......
