Title: Secondary pulloff needed?
Post by: Vettetek on June 13, 2023, 09:07:40 AM
Hey guys, I am converting a 1981 corvette over to a 1980 spec (computer delete). I have bought a new Quadrajet that's "specced" for 1980. However, it has the dual pull off on the rear and the air cleaner base I have hits it. Due to hood clearance on the vette, I have to use it. Is there a way I can eliminate the dual rear and just install a front pull off? I know the secondary flap arm is different.
So can I eliminate it all together, or can I convert it to the other style without too much frustration?

Thanks!

Assuming your new carb is good to go otherwise, yes you can run without an
air flap damper. just add a little more spring tension and dont stomp it too hard.

That will get you and the corvette on the road and running till you find parts and time to
properly convert it to front pull off only.

You will however have to mount a front pull-off for the choke pull-off function.
