Hello. This is my first experience with a Quadrajet. I have a 1980 Chev 454 truck carb # 17080212 on top of my Buick Nailhead 401 engine. I picked it up at a yard sale and have no previous knowledge of it. The engine runs fine, albeit a little rough on idle, but it consumes far too much fuel for my liking. Before I take it off and dismantle, does anyone know what the stock jet / metering rod sizes this carb should have ? I then have to try and figure out what sizes I need to order to make it run a bit leaner.

Stock jets are 72 with 50 or 52M primary metering rods going by memory.
The carb has APT, so you have full control of the part throttle A/F without taking the carb apart.
I stock full tapered metering rods from those that taper from .050 to .036". I can also put together a complete kit for it with tuning parts.
Most likely the carb just needs completley/correctly rebuild and easy access to the APT to fine tunie it once it's back in service. I'm in the shop 7am-4pm M-F EST.....shop number is 740-397-2921....tks...
