Title: Main well bleed tubes
Post by: GSP7 on December 03, 2024, 07:09:09 PM
On this core carb I am rebuilding (17080213) one of the 'main well bleed tubes' is slightly damaged.

Also should they extend above the top surface of the carb. One higher than the other

I cant find in Cliffs book where it talks about the main well bleed tubes.

Damaged tubes can be replaced. Pictures?

The tubes can stick up a little so they are visible or a little more, the main thing is that they stick up the same amount.
Compare with your other carburetor. Pictures?

Thanks for the help Kenth.

Well crap I didnt load the pics sideways...

The one on the left or bottom is a tiny bit damaged at the tip( Like someone hammered it and bent the tip a tiny bit) , you can see it . One right one is set deeper too.

Any tips on loosing them to adjust height? maybe tiny bit of heat on the housing with a propane plumber torch

Though this 1780213 carb I got of ebay is in fairly good condition..... I know my original carb on the truck still is in excelent condition, Ive owned the '81 truck since it was 2 years old , 41 years.

I'll rebuild the original carb next, does Cliff still install throttle shaft bushings if you send him the base plate?

.

Yes, I'm still rebuilding baseplates, installing heli-coils for the fuel filter housing and repairing main casting well plug leaks......
