Title: Acc pump arm
Post by: lightning boy on August 19, 2025, 01:04:48 PM
I've worked on several Qjets where the acc pump arm is right on the edge of the acc pump. Not centered on the top of the accelerator pump. The slot on the air horn that holds the pump arm is worn. What's the cause of this side loading? Is it the rod bent coming from the linkage on the base plate? What causes it to be off center? I'm talking about the tip of the pump arm contacting the top of the pump rod.

I just dealt with this today. DO NOT try to pinch the slot back together, it'll break off for sure.

I just bent the end of the pump arm to center it on the pump shaft, about a half inch from the tip.

When the front long screws are tightened too tightly, the carburetor is squeezed, the air horn bends and the gap at the arm becomes larger.

You may heat the area some, with arm in place, with a LPG burner and pinch the gap with a plier.
