Title: Milling the choke housing.

Does milling the choke housing work on a Q-jet?  (obviously it makes the choke inoperable).

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I think I recall reading somewhere (a while ago) that doing this actually hurts a Q-jet's flow.  It would be interesting to hear of some real world testing...

I wouldn't touch it.  I've had my 1977 Pontiac q-jet on the dyno back to back against a dyno tuned HP950, and a few 850 Demon's and made more power.  The castings have never been touched anyplace by a grinder or sanding roll.  Since that carb easily supports close to 600hp and over 600ft lbs torque, little if anything to chase around with most engine set-ups......IMHO......Cliff
