Title: Wanted 79 Pontiac 400 4-speed carb

Wanted 79 Pontiac 400 4-speed carb.   I have a 73 800 cfm Q-jet on it now , but the choke tubes are backwards.
I did mod the lines to make it work , but thought correct would be better.

Make sure to connect a rubber hose from the choke air supply to the back of the airhorn.  If not, unfiltered air is entering the engine.

I don't have any 79 4 speed carbs left, but plenty of 76-78 Pontiac carbs in the core pile.....Cliff

thanks for the heads up Cliff.

in 78-9 the carb # was the same (  17058263 1978 4 400 M FB  )

also will take  (  17057263 1977 4 400 M FB  ) 

other carbs on my find list

17057266 1977 4 400 A FB
17058266 1978 4 400 A FB 

17058263 1979 4 400 M FB

I have a couple of 4 speed 76-78 carbs in the core pile someplace.  I've sold a few in recent years, pretty sure I have at least 2 left.....Cliff

I may have a carb for you if it doesn't work for my application. Look in the carb talk area for my post with the carb info. I don't need this specific carb just looking for a good 800 CFM core. Not sure how this will work with the large vent tube for air cleaner clearance.
