Title: Rear Choke Pull Offs - Can these be eliminated if there is a front pull off?
Post by: 71vette on May 07, 2011, 11:25:18 PM
I have a 454 Corvette and the air cleaner base will not fit a quadrajet that uses a rear choke pull off in addition to the front choke pull off.  Do the carbs that use the front pull off only control the secondary air flap and the rear pull off controls the choke?

It seems most of the 800 cfm quadrajets that I can find have a rear choke pull off and that doesn't work for my setup.  Like everyone else, I bought Cliff's book and I'm trying to find a good carb to use.  I have a 17059216 but it turned out to be the 750 version.

My engine is 454 with 9.5 cr, 216 duration on intake, 228 exhaust, .510 lift, 112 lope separation, 180 pounds static compression with stock exhaust

If the front pull-off has a link up to the seconadary airflaps, yes.  The secondary pull-off is not needed...Cliff
