Title: choke probs
Post by: F250 Restorer on November 07, 2011, 08:50:38 PM
Okay, I'm still dialing in my carb, but noticed the choke is not working right.  I have a 17058524.  The single diaphram vacuum that prevents the air flaps from opening ... it pulls so much that the lever on the shaft can not counteract it.  Am I missing something?  With the engine fully warm, I would have to turn choke c.clockwise to trip/move the diap. rod enough to allow the air flap to open.  I thought that as the choke warms it would move and push back the rod, but the opposite is true.

I need a bit of help from someone experienced.

I was hoping to get a bit of help from someone, but I guess that may not be the case.

The choke pull-off unloads the choke on cold starts.  The later models use an adjustable pull-off to set the choke flap angle on initial start-up.  It may take several cold start attempts to find the ideal setting.....Cliff
