Title: Best way to block off rear vent !
Post by: oldsman70 on February 27, 2009, 11:10:46 AM
Last time at the track car had a flat spot just past the 60 ft , since it now 60 ft in the 1.59 range I think  fuel slosh may be the problem. Right now I just pushed a piece of rubber hose with a screw in it To seal the vent. any  better way ? , Haven't been to T&T so I don't know if it worked or not .

There are quite a few different airhorns, what is the carburetor number, and which "rear vent" are you talking about?....thanks....Cliff

Carb is a Buick 7043240 , there are two holes in the air horn , one with the vent tube its near the fuel inlet the second is after the float toe , this is the one I pluged with the piece of rubber hose with a screw. The only other hole 5/16 is for the air cleaner stud. I read in one of the threads on this board about blocking off the vent ???? This shouldn't create problems ??

We plug the round vent next to the air cleaner stud hole by tapping it from underneath and installing a 5/16" set screw.

The POE wells are also vented on that carburetor in the airhorn, you may want to plug the external holes and modify the main casting to vent them back to the fuel bowl, as it is possible on hard launches for some fuel to slosh up into the secondaries out of those holes as well.....Cliff
