Title: Checking base gaskets
Post by: 73 Z28 on December 23, 2011, 02:54:43 PM
Recently ran into a problem where a carb throttle blades were sticking open after an accel. This ended up being resolved by trimming the base gasket back as it was causing a binding condition with the throttle plates. Wanted to pass this along as one more thing to check before installing any carb back on the intake.

That's a very good tip.

Thank you. That is a good tip. Probably have to check the base gasket on my engine.

I've never seen that from the base gasket, but I've seen it several times from a distorted/hardened/ancient throttle body-to main casting gasket.
