Title: top stop apt on 17085213
Post by: 429bbf on February 16, 2012, 07:27:00 PM
question is.is the screw  that is threaded in the air horn that is above the apt have a specific height to be set at. i noticed on the 85212 carb 454 the stop was set about flush with the top of the threads. on the 85213 350 carb it was down about 3 to 4 threads.the way that im understanding this is it sets the upper limit to the power valve and metering rods.should you set this with a gauge or is there another way.any comments or suggestions would be very thankful.thanks in advance.dean

There really is no "standard" setting.  Best to adjust them to what the engine wants.  I start them out at 3.5 turns up from seated, then fine tune them on the engine.  Final tuning may take a few tank fulls of fuel, making very small changes to dial it in exactly for what you are doing.  It is a very good feature, and adjustments only take seconds.  Better than having to pull the top off and change metering rods!.....Cliff
