Hi I have a 74 Esprite auto trans that I'm converting to a trans am 4 speed. The engine is a freshly rebuilt 400. The engine currently has a holley carb and eldebrock intake that I'm going to replace with a pontiac intake and a Qjet.
I'm not worried about the year of the carb being the same as the car, so I bought a 17050272 carb for $25. Two questions. 1) is this a good carb as Qjets go or should I look for a better one? 2) Are there any changes or considerations I should be aware of regarding emissions/wiring/fit when using a 79 carb on a 74 car. The car will not have any emmisions control on it and as I mentioned, will be a manual. Thanks.

EXCELLENT starting point for a really nice carburetor. Functionally equivalent to the one I use on my 455 over 550hp.
It will needs some help in a few areas, and recalibrated, etc. When you get time, call the shop and we can get what you need for it headed your way....Cliff
