Title: Inserting MABs???
Post by: redman76 on March 19, 2012, 07:16:50 PM
I bought the press in type MABs to change mine from the larger size to smaller.  It looks like you just drive them into the large MAB opening. Is this correct and do you use Loctite red on them?  Do they go in from top or bottom of air horn?  It looks easier from the bottom, but not as sturdy looking for driving in.  From the top, more sturdy surface, but harder to access.  Just curious how to do . . .

They are press fit, no loctite needed, but it wouldn't hurt if you used a small amount.  They go in from the top, and have a chamfered edge that goes in first.

Use a small punch with a tiny amount of grease on it to pick them up and hold them on the punch till driven in place....Cliff

I got them installed with no problems.  I was shipped 4 of the smaller MABs.  I only need to install 2 of them, is this correct?  The other two are spares?

Two in the airhorn, and two in the main casting....Cliff

Okay, I think I've figured it out.  I found your pic and description on p. 32.  Just to confirm, the other two go here?

I know this is an old topic - but it'd be nice to have this info in one spot.

What kind of clearance is needed before pressing the bushings?

Thanks!

The holes are already the correct size, and the airbleeds will have a very slight interference fit.....Cliff
