Title: 17058213 Carb on '68 Pontiac 350 HO?
Post by: crossbuck4 on April 05, 2012, 08:04:04 PM
Rebuilding a 350HO for my 68 firebird.  Plan on the stock 066 cam and maybe headers.   My intake and carb are on another car.  I picked up a 17058213 carb which I think is from a 78 Chevy Truck.   Is this carb worth working with for my application or should I get something else?    I am planning to drive my car on the street regularly so I want decent mileage but still some performance.    I am also concerned about detonation since this engine has pretty high CR.   Thanks.

It's a nice unit, and can be made to work.  Even so, it's side fuel inlet, different linkage and choke arrangement (divorced).

Much better to pick up a 68-70 Pontiac carb right to start with, as everything fits.....Cliff
