Title: 1981 E4ME Q-jet Bad fuel economy - fast warm idle
Post by: bozso on May 11, 2012, 11:46:51 AM
Engine always idled fast when warm (1800 rpm), so removed carb, disassembled to clean, reassembled and installed, idles even faster now.  Electric choke seems to work fine, opens after just a few minutes.  Power at 12v to MC Solenoid good, and O2 sensor replaced; But, dwell at 2 degrees :(
Aside from screwing with idle mixture screws, should additional adjustments be made "inside" carb?
After replacing several sensors, I no longer receive any "error" messages.  SES light only illuminates during start up to show it's working.
Help, please?

hi bozo welcome aboard .when you had it apart did you remove all the plugs(the aluminum tappered tamper proof plugs) and tap them for screw in plugs?also did you remove the 2 little rivets to gain access to the 2 o rings on the screw?it sounds like the o rings are bad and you cant control the idle fuel.dean
