Can anyone tell me what model Pontiac the 7044276 was used on?
-
I've never seen one and it's not in any of my literature for Pontiac carburetors used in 1974.
I do show a 7044272 and 7044274, which is the "high altitude" carbs that year.
The 7044270 and 7044273's were used on the 455 Super Duty engines.......Cliff

Thanks Cliff. I've gone trough a ton of Pontiac literature and my Delco #9 book and found nothing. I've seen one other on ebay but that's it.

My reply got cut off.
I wasn't able to find it in the books, but we have several here at our shop, so I can verify they exist.

Could this be the "Yeti" of Pontiac carburetors! Thanks for your help. If you ever come up with an answer I'd love to hear it.

I had one here a while back but forgot about it. It was 10 years ago and I verified the job and part number in Quick Books. It was sent here by the owner of a Pontiac T/A and was stock on his engine but I can't remember if it was 400 or a 455? The work order only shows what we did to it, not the engine size or specs. I'm pretty sure it was a 455 and auto transmission but not sure if he transplanted the 455 into the T/A to replace a 400?.......Cliff

Interesting. I'm amazed that the part number never made it to any Pontiac/Delco literature. Thanks again Cliff.

That was a SR carb for the 1972-1974 Super Duty and Hi-Output FB's. See several references of it in my manual and actually found the an old Echlin kit part number for it.

It's not the 73-74 Super Duty replacement, they are part numbers 17054910 and 17054911. They did make a few SR with part number 7044270 nearly as I can remember.
The 7044276 may have been for the standard 455 engines in 1973-74 if it showed up as a Service Replacement, but the Super Duty engines were completely different and took carbs with very generous idle fuel delivery, and they were the larger "800" cfm castings......Cliff

7044276 is a new replacement Qjet #24-6060 and the equivalent to the 7044266, and according to ACDelco 9A-101 bulletin usage for 1973-74 400 cui engines.
My notes on the calibration shows they are the same.
