Title: I need help identifying carb
Post by: Toones on April 20, 2020, 12:30:20 AM
I am trying to identify a Quadrajet I recently picked up.  The round ID tag is missing.  From Mr. Ruggles's book, I have been able to determine that the carb is a Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, or Buick (67-only) (because of passenger side fuel inlet) and either a 67 or 68 (based on the float fulcrum location).  I am guessing that because the base plate is not drilled for a rear vacuum port, it was likely in a car with manual brakes.

Is there anything else that can be determined from the carburetor?  Exact year? Manual/auto transmission?

You have got a "Frankencarb" hacked up by one of the major remanufacturers.
The date on the throttle plate is 7:th day of 1969 and has a cast O which is Oldsmobile.
Float bowl looks like a 1967 Chevy-style but has to be checked further to know.
Airhorn has the 1969 and later choke blade shaft and may belong to the throttle plate?

Thank you!  The 0079 through me off because it wasn't matching the float bowl so it made me question it as a build date.  I didn't know about the cast in "O" that will help in the future.

I appreciate you responding!
