throttle plates
« on: April 04, 2013, 04:24:25 PM »
Cliff,
On my 17057266 quadrajet, at idle, does the primary throttle plates need to be closed all the way? Or open just enough to provide some air/fuel? From what ive read im under the impression they need to be fully closed at idle, Other wise the ported vacume will be activated.
 Thanks,
Paul

No, they are opened just enough to provide enough air to the engine to sustain idle speed.  The ported vacuum port will not be activated, it's location is higher in the throttle body that what would be required to sustain a "normal" idle rpm.....Cliff
