Quadrajet base plate switch ?

I bought a rebult Qjet off a 1976 Chevy 454 # 17056212 and want to replace my tired OEM Qjet carb #7045264 on my 1975 Pontiac Grand Am 400 car. My question is can I put the Pontiac carb base plate under the Chevy carb so I can install my throttle linkage and cruise without any problems or do I also have to change the choke linkages  ? Thanks

Not sure about the throttle body, but you should be able to swap the throttle shafts between the two.

Very few parts would interchange between those two units.  I would completely/correctly rebuild the 7045264, or get another one, they are very common carburetors, I probably have a dozen of them in the core pile....Cliff

Thanks guys, too bad it won't work for my application, are these 454 Qjet good carbs ? And about mine should I get something better, I thought 1975 carbs have the APT finicky set up ?

Not all 75 carburetors have the aneroid located APT system.  For Chevy truck units, it was still in the baseplate till 1979.

I personally avoid 1975 and early 1976 carburetors with the aneroid located APT deal, some also have and aux power piston.  They can be made to work fine, but are not as user friendly as the later APT design.....Cliff
