Top gasket is all wet. Fresh rebuild
« on: October 16, 2014, 11:25:29 AM »
So I rebuilt my qjet with a kit from Cliff. After reading his book and watching countless hours on youtube I felt I had a good handle on the situation.

Long story short the air horn gasket is wet and dripping fuel almost all the way around the carb. I retightened the bolts and it did not seem to help too much.

Any help would be great.   Thanks

common problems ,not in any type of order . float set to high. needle and seat leaking (too much fuel pressure, orsmall piece of old seal under the seat)warped air horn . did you vacumn test the needle and seat ?or little clip hooked on the float wrong.fwiw

I just pulled it apart and rechecked the float height. I had it about an 1/8th inch. Some how I messed that up. I just lowered it to 1/4 inch and I think that may be too high. The book says 13/32nds which is just a hair over 3/8. I think I will do 3/8ths if I have a problem. I was told it being a little damp is not unusual.

I did test the needle valve and seat and neither one was leaking.

I'll post my results in a day or two.
