remanufactured by holley... specs?
« on: May 30, 2015, 08:52:48 AM »
I am getting ready to build a nice unit for a mild 403.
Took a 17056259 from the stack of carbs I have lying around.
It has been remanufactured by Holley.
these specs can't be stock ?

By-pass: none
tubes .038
DCR .060
upp IAB .068
low. IAB .080
upp MAB .075
low. MAB .026
jets 71
rods 41J with 26 tip
discharge .026
mixture holes .084
secondary rods .055
It has no APT anywhere.

I guess I could make it work fine, but since it lacks any APT it will be dificult to make it run right on the primary side ?

Pretty "hacked up" for calibration, the factory calibration was much better, and I wouldn't use it without the APT system in place and operational.....Cliff

Other than the tubes and dcr, what values are off?
I suppose this is one of those Oldsmobile units with the very small lower mab's ?
I put it back on the shelf and chose another olds unit, that has not been messed with.
Are these weird calibrations what you can expect generally, from a Holley rebuilt unit?

Holley remans and other "big" shop remans are a mess.  It usually takes a good bit of work to get them back to original spec for use.  I have seen epoxied seats, and ruined main bodies.  Any most times, the main body, air horn and baseplate are mis-matched.

I have seen a couple of those typicla "proffesionally" rebuilt units. Oh boy, they were messed up, like you wouldn't believe.
I am surprised that the standard on units, that has Holley's name on them, is so low.

The deal with installing a baseplate with no APT screw is horrible ! :-)
