Carburetor Linkage for 17085202 and other questions
« on: August 22, 2016, 10:33:46 AM »
Mr. Ruggles,

I have several questions:

I have a 1965 Chevy truck with a stock 1970 350/300hp and Powerglide with the stock bell crank throttle linkage that was hooked to an older QuadraJet (7041202). Do you know of a kit to modify this linkage to work with a newer Quadrajet (17085202) without modifying the throttle arm on the carb.

I set the QuadraJet-17085202 up to stock specs with the only change of drilling out the idle mixture holes to .090" as recommended in your book. I was wondering if setting the float to a 1/4" would help the carb run a little richer to make up for the 10% ethanol fuel, instead of the 3/8", as recommended in the specs.

Can a divorced choke (from the 7041202 carb) be installed on the newer carb (the 17085202)... it looks like it will fit.

Thanks,

Offline Cliff Ruggles

I would not raise the float level to calibrate the carburetor.

It should be set up correctly for the application.

The divorced choke will not fit or work well on the later unit......Cliff
