Baseplate gasket

Hello Cliff
When swapping a non original carb from another make, such as a Buick qjet on a Olds, Pontiac, Chevy, ect, does the intake manifold dictate the choice of base gasket ? Or does the swapped carb? does it matter? Thanks.

Usually it's the intake but sometimes it can be both.
The early 70's Buick divorced choke carbs with the rear pull-off, for example, will NOT work with some of the later gaskets.
Always check each set-up to make sure the gasket you are using seals well both against the intake and against the carburetor.
I stock all currently available carb to intake gaskets for the Q-jet, so call the shop if you aren't sure what to use and need one for your particular combination........
