66' Inlet leak

Good day all,

Just noticed my original 66' QJ is weeping fuel around the epoxy sealed part of the inlet. I have Cliff's book but I don't see anywhere in there that deals with repairing this part of the carb.

Anyone have any suggestions to repair this?

Remove the JB Weld or whatever useless epoxy is dabbed over it.

Get a small machinist hammer and gently re-swage the material around it.

I've fixed thousands of them in that manner and never once had to remove that plug and tap it for any sort of repair plug, etc....

Ok that's good advice, thanks Cliff. I'll give it a try and see how it goes. Do you recommend re-Epoxying once finished?

Do you figure that a dremel works best for removing the epoxy?

I would NOT try to remove it with a grinder or anything that might remove any material from the front of the casting.  You can usually heat the epoxy with a propane torch and soften it up enough it will peal right off.  Some peal right off without much effort anyhow. 

Most folks use JB Weld, absolutely USELESS for stopping or sealing up any fuel leak at that location or on the bottom plugs......
