It appears that with the hard times and price asked for cast iron intakes(some are very proud of theirs), I am going to use an Edelbrock 2101 on my 81 Jimmy.  My money is going to fund a tranny change from a TH350C to a 700R4.  If things get better, I might be able to find a decent intake.

My carb is a Qjet 17081226. 

My Jimmy has a Goodwrench 249hp crate motor with stock exhaust.  The engine never gets above 3300 rpm and can cruise at 70 and pull 12-15 inHg.

I have 3.73 ring gears in the front and rear 10 bolt axles and 31" tires.

The transfer case is an NP208.

The Jimmy's weight is listed at 4700#.

My goal is fuel economy and low end torque.

I go offroad and tow my boat.  Some heavier towing my be in the picture.

I have purchased your well plugs, but now I am looking for a rebuild kit and set up. 

Any help and which recipe would be helpful.

The 17081226 is an excellent unit, we have both SR and HP kits for them.

I have a really nice cast iron intake under the work bench as well.  I pulled it out of storage for a potential buyer a while back, and for some reason the sale fell thru?  I'm pretty sure it's from a truck in the later 70's.  They are a tad heavy to ship, but we'll sell it for $35 plus the shipping via UPS Ground......Cliff

Think I've found one local at a machine shop.  If it doesn't work out, let me know what the weight is (aprox) and I will check on UPS.

The USPS calculator says $24 to about $45, depending on type of service chosen?

I would image our UPS commercial account is about the same.  I've shipped them before, and cylinder heads, no more than about $35 anywhere in the US......Cliff

Very good and thanks.  I won't know for a few days if the local shop has one, he mentioned to me that he believes he has one and would be willing to make some kind of a trade.  If it doesn't work out I will let you know.

Doesn't look like the manifolds at the machine shop will work.  Cliff, if you PM me, we can get together on the cast manifold.
