Fuel in crankcase Pevr output on carb base leaking fuel? Have

I have a 1980 Turbo T/A with a Rochester Qjet ##17063675  (9).  Engine is original with 89,000miles.   Carb was rebuilt twice in 10 years (leaking fuel into crankcase).   Seemed to run better without PEVR hooked up.   Just had PEVR rebuilt by Joe Renaldi.   Warm weather starts aren't  a problem.   Cold weather starts usually end up  with excessive black smoke and fouled plugs.   Have replaced the fuel pump in case of diaphram  rupture.      Looking for help.  Thanks chaz069

I don't think your carb is the right one. US carb# should be 17080274 and export should be 17080276.

Could be a Service Replacement, but I don't recognise that number.  The turbo carburetors are different than N/A units, and shouldn't be interchanged without modifcations.

Sounds like it may need screw in bottom plugs installed if it's leaking fuel into crankcase on more than one occassion.  I would recomend installing one of our kits as well, they have parts that are designed for this new fuel, far superior to the over the counter stuff........Cliff

I copied the wrong number off the carb.  It is the 17080274.  How does fuel leak from the bowls to the intake?  Why would you get fuel leaking out of the PEVR  outllet  at the base of the carb.   I am interested in one of your carb kits, I also have throttle shaft leakage upsetting the mixture , need bushings.    I had 19 inches of vacuum at Idle and it has since dropped to 14. with new plugs a week ago.  I do appreciate all the help and info.   I'm a little rusty on carb rebuilding, I would prefer that it be done correctly the first time rather than redoing it several times.   Thanks chaz069

There are bottom plugs in the main casting that can leak after many years of use.  Not common on the later units, as the factory did a good job of swaging them, but we do see some leakers on occassion.

We remove the stock pressed in plugs and tap the casting for screw in plugs coated with Marine Tex.  It is a permanent repair vs just "dabbing" epoxy over them.

We sell everything for that carburetor number, and have bottom plug repair kits, and bushing install kits as well.
