I have a 1986 Camaro w/ a 305. I have removed the electronic carb and installed a mechanical Summit Racing rebuilt Quadrajet and HEi vacuum advance distributor (MSD Street fire). The engine is stock accept for headers and desmoging. There are no vacuum leaks. I've checked and adjusted the timing several times with no change. Manifold vacuum at 600 rpm is 20 in. The car runs ok up to about 1/4 throttle but hesitates badly or even stalls above that, depending on how much I push it. If I hold the throttle the condition does not improve, so I don't think it is the accelerator pump. The carb came with .072 jets, I've replaced them with .065, same metering rods-no improvement. What size jets/metering rods came on a 1985 camaro without electronic carb? Am I on the right track? Car was not hesitating before change over, just running bad. There are no numbers on my carb but it looks exactly the same as previous just no electronics.
