Sorry if this has been asked before, but I am confused as to what carb I have. When I google quadrajet 7037262 I see several different and conflicting applications pop up. I have always assumed that this was the original carb for my 67 HO automatic.  I have owned the car for 20 years, but I have never really looked at the casting number before. Zazarine's book says it's for a 67 GTO automatic with AIR. The "AIR" desination got me to wondering if this was not the correct carb. On the driver's side it is stamped 7037262 with a date code of 2013 (yes, that is ironic).  On the rear of the carb there are raised numbers 7033883.  Not that I am going to change it, but I would just like to know if it is correct or not.

 Welcome to CHP!

 7037262 is from a '67 Pontiac 400cid and 428cid, A/T, A.I.R. Also known as Air Injection Reactor. Probably a Service Replacement carburetor as per the date code. Also, 7033883 is just the fuel bowl casting number.

Interesting. The Julian Date code would say that the carb was built on the 201st day of 1973? So it is possible that the car went back to the dealer in say 1973 and they installed a service replacement carb.  Since this car is not originally an AIR car, I am wondering if the 7037262 was used like a "universal" carb, and would be installed by a dealer on a 67 GTO automatic even if the car was an HO car and was not an AIR car? Things that make you say Hmmm...

 Correct, as the date code shows mid-to-late of 1973, it could have been possibly a Service Replacement carburetor at that time. ;)

As I read about the Air Injection Reactor (AIR) system I can't find anything that is different on the 7037262 and the original carb, a 7027262, other than the original had a #41 metering rod and the AIR carb had a #40 metering rod.  That's an easy swap. I will have to check to see if that has already been done.
If anyone know of any other differences in a 67 AIR carb, please let me know.  Thanks!!

 7027262 came with .070 Jets, 41 Primary Metering Rods, Secondary Hanger K, and Secondary Metering Rods BF.

 7037262 came with .070 Jets, 40 Primary Metering Rods, Secondary Hanger K, and Secondary Metering Rods BF.

 There is really not much difference (in terms to the inside components) between the carburetors really.
