Morning all.

Would please like some help with my issue with my truck. It's a 75 Scottsdale c20 454 automatic camper special. I had a few issues like sputtering going down the highway and at idle. I replaced the big fuel filter made an improvement but it still would cut right out at full throttle. Replaced the small fuel filter in the carb at the fuel inlet. Go like rocket with the secondaries kicking in. Now here's the problem I'm having again. My dad and I loaded the 11 foot camper in the back of the truck slide in style so my wife and I could go camping this weekend. Took it for a rip with the camper in the back all was fine in town at speeds of 20 mph or so. Got er on the highway brought it up to 40 using only the primaries still fine. Put the gas pedal to the mat secondaries kick in as usual for about a minute I feel some hesitation then the motor goes again. The truck stalls and we have enough speed to coast on a back road. We didn't get out the cab right away we tried restarting the motor no go not even a fire. We get out of the cab and smell gas real strong so we pop the hood and there it is a lake of fuel sizzling on the intake. The carburetor is spraying fuel out the top of the choke /primaries while cranking. What could cause this? Bad carb too much fuel pressure? I drove it hard after I replaced both filters and it was fine until I loaded the camper into the bed of the truck. I might add that when I did the main fuel filter the hoses on there were bigger than the ones that were on the old filter and it was leaking fuel out there. The new hoses that came with the new filter were stiff and quite hard to get on the lines and pump. Could it be too much fuel pressure as well? I would appriciate any help in advance.

i would say your problem is a combination of needle , seat and float. advice.(buy a kit from cliff and freshen up the carb and problem will go away) i think when you changed filters you loosened up a little bit of crud thats causing your problem.i buy my kits from cliff because of problems . read post (you get what you pay for )fwiw

Our kit will also come with the correct big block high flow needle/seat assembly.  Aftermarket kits do not, which is a big contributor to the problems you are having at full throttle....Cliff
