electric choke

Cliif,
 I have a quadrajet # 17057266 that I rebuilt using your book, car idles ok for now, I still have to fine tune it using the tip in and such, but I want to purchase one of your electric chokes and install it befor I do the tip in. Do you have a one electric choke fits all?  where would I get the 12 volt supply from? how do they work? Im not familier with them.

The electric choke will work with any carb that has an integral choke. 4MC or M4MC. It will not work with a 4MV carburetor.

That carb should be fine.

There's no reason to install the choke before tip-in, but it's fine to wait until then.

The 12V source should be switched hot with key-on, like an ignition system.

Basically, the choke element is a bimetal spring and the electricity warms up the spring and causes it to move. As it moves your choke blades will open. If you look inside the choke housing there's a little arm that the choke element will ride on.

Yes, we have a choke that works perfectly for that carburetor number.  Our e-choke conversions come with the correct Q-jet electric choke, which "clocks" correctly with the termain down toward the intake.  We include all the hardware, and the electrical connector for the wiring......Cliff

be careful stealing from the dizzy supply. i had problems at wot. thought it was a fuel supply problem .ended  up be a voltage problem.fwiw

Given a choice, I'd prefer a power source that is not "hot" with the key in Accessory, Off, or Crank.  Hot with the key in "Run" only.  The choke does not need to heat during extended crank time.

I'd also run the power through an oil-pressure switch, so the choke does not continue to heat if the engine stalls while you're inside having a cup of coffee waiting for the car to warm up.
