Rochester q-jet marine carb.

Cliff if you read this I bought 2 kits from you to overhaul my marine Q-jets a few months back. They are the 17082403's and just wanted to say engines started right up after a small prime and actually idled nice. A friend who supposedly "knows" these marine carbs helped and he recommended I set floats at 1/8". Boat runs smooth but seems to be running a little rich to me ....could this be due to float setting? What would you recommend I set them at? Those kits are great by the way...

Marine carburetors will have very specific float settings per application.  Some will be listed quite low due to the mounting angle, etc.

Most carb numbers show up in the instructions, I would set the floats at the factory recommended setting.  If no listing is found, I most often set them at 1/4".  Marine applications are sensitive to high fuel levels, and fuel slosh, etc, and running a 1/8" setting may produce running rich and even stalling issues in actual use......Cliff
