Hello and first question for you carb gurus
« on: October 04, 2014, 10:03:46 AM »
Hello from Wisconsin.  New to the forum.

We are working on rebuilding and modifying Rochester 2G carbs.  Anyone have ideas for plugging the choke holes on the carb horn?  I had a Sean Murphy carb once that had some nice aluminum plugs.  Any ideas?

That would be a preferred method as the plugs could be removed later if needed.....Cliff

Any idea where to find those aluminum plugs?  I thought about ordering aluminum rivets from McMaster-Carr.

Any other suggestions for 2G mods.  Building them for off road use.

2GC's are pretty simple in design.  They still need the idle system set up exactly for the engine combination.  They do not have an idle bypass air system, so small holes are drilled in the throttle plates if bypass air is needed.

The main system is pretty simple, jets and a simple valve in the main body controlled by a spring loaded plunger in the airhorn.

Their weakest leak is the accl pump, I would recommend getting our modern pump assemblies with the good seal on them, and eliminating the feed system and aluminum check-ball if used.....Cliff
