Looking for advice

After getting my free advice from Cliff, I figured I join up and get the full jist of what my Q-Jet can do for me. He had asked that I call him but I thought I’d post up first to see if I’m at least going in the right direction. He also asked for cam spec’s, that I don’t have. Not sure on vacuum either. Engine is currently being cleaned up and painted, last time it ran was about 6yrs ago. Video below of the engine running.

I have the following two Q-Jets to choose from to rebuild and use on my engine. I believe both are 800cfm If they are not correct for my application, please lead me in the right direction.
One thing I’d like to know is what does the Division Digit “9” stand for?? Can’t find that info anywhere.
Both are electric choke.
Once I gather the necessary info, I will then order the proper rebuild components.
I have Cliff’s SA Book and another carburetor book.

My engine consists of the following:
0010 Block from a 1970 350ci Chevy Full Size (Biscayne, Caprice, Impala)
327 Large Journal Crank
327 30 Over pistons
No idea what cam is in there, hence video to give an idea of what it sounded like 7 years ago.
1973 (991) Truck Heads. Stock 1.72 & 1.50 valves, hardened seats
Stock 1967 Cast Intake (4bbl Spread bore)
1989 TH700r4 for the transmission. ( I’ve read that it is easier to connect to a Q-Jet with manual throttle bracket)
I'll be Frank, Haven't a clue when it comes to setting up a carburetor.

What do you want to know exactly ? :-) I would say both are good carbs to rebuild and tailor for any performancelevel.
It is very easy to distinguish a 750 from an 800. You have the book, look up page 45. Once you know what to look for you will never have doubt.

Choose the unit that has the best provisions for the th700 tv cable.
The one on the left looks nice and clean. Stuck throttle plates can be tricky. They may bend when you try and get them loose.

You dont need 800 cfm for a mild 350, but it will work just fine!

Stuff that you mention helps. If an 800 is too big for my purpose I have about 5 - 750cfm Q-Jets but only one of them has Electric Choke. I think for a noob like myself this will make for easier handling by me.  :-[
I'll have to go out to the garage and see what the numbers are on it. If not mistaken most of the 750's that I have are missing one thing or another.
These two 800's are the most complete ones that I have.
I'll be Frank, Haven't a clue when it comes to setting up a carburetor.

If the units are M4M's ( ID starts with 170- ) almost all parts interchange freely...
You can take the electric choke coil and put it on any of the others, as long as they are not the types where the choke coil sits on the intake manifold.
The 17080251 could come from a 307 engine. the 17080290 could be form a 350 Chevy truck.

It's not that the 800 is too big, it's just that the 750 should be plenty.  The quadrajet flow is metered based on the engines needs.

the difference between the 750 and the 800 is the size of the primary bores, so the size might mean something if the engine was small enough. I am not sure how smal an engine has to be for the 800 primaries to be too large.
I dont think the 800 is too big for a 350. 301's came with 800's from the factory!

If the throttle blades are corroded stuck, I would stay away, the throttle blades may never seal right if you have to bang them free. The " 9 " may stand for mercruiser or cab or fleet vehicle, I'm not sure. Other things to consider are if the linkage needs a kickdown for the trans, also look at the fuel inlet threads closely, it's an expensive fix. Also is a front inlet or side inlet better for your setup. Good luck

 I believe that is correct. From what I remember at least. :o
