Hi all,
It seems that changes in the temperature cause big problems with the way my carb functions. If the weather is warm (high 70's and up) and the car is started it runs rather well with only a slight miss that can be heard at the exhaust pipe. If the weather is cool (mid to low 70's, 60's) the car blows very dark smoke and has a miss that rattles the whole engine and leaks gas from the second from right vacuum port on the base plate. Letting the engine run and warm up doesn't change a thing.
I didn't know the port was missing a vacuum hose until I tracked down the gas leak. When I put my finger over the vacuum fitting I feel no vacuum. With my finger blocking the port their is no change in the engine performance.
Anyone have an idea what I have going on here? The carb is a 17059243
I know the carb needs to be rebuilt but am hoping I might be able to fix this problem until I can save the money up to have it done. Any help would be great.
