Idle return
« on: January 28, 2016, 03:18:41 PM »
During normal driving as you pull up to a stop the carb only idles down to 1300 rpm. If you whack the throttle it will then return to its normal idle speed of 800. It is a 4 speed car and it occurs with the ported vacuum advance connected or dis connected.  The carb is a 7027211. If I didn't get the numbers backwards. Just finished rebuilding wt cliffs parts and adhered to the second recipe. Thanks everyone. Jeff

First thing to check is the distributor to make sure the timing is all the way at the base setting when this occurs and none of the mechanical advance curve is in.

I'd also check all the throttle plates to make sure they are fully seated, indexed, and not binding in the bores, especially the huge secondary plates.

A bent primary shaft or a little tight in the bushings will also cause this......Cliff
