AUthenticate carb as orig not restamp
« on: March 17, 2016, 06:55:50 PM »
I purchased a 72 455HO 4 spd engine last year and it had a 7042273 XH 0132 carb on it. It looks to be recently restored. I was wondering by the pictures attached can you advise if the carb is real or a restamp. I removed the dust boot to look at it. It is in a separate picture. Another question on the dust boot, it looks different than the one on my 7029273 carb as it has a hat or flat area at the bottom that i don't think the one on my 29273 has but i have not removed it from the carb to compare. Is the boot different for 72? Thanks for any help! Sorry for the bad pictures i can take better if you need better.

 Welcome to CHP!

First important photo is blurry. Can you get a better one? From looking at it, I think it looks legit. Just need a better top photo. 8)

I will get a better picture tomorrow. I snapped them right before leaving for work and didnt look at them until I got here. Attached is the dust boot off of this carb, I was curious if it was different than one say used on a 29273 carb.

Not sure. Cliff would be best to answer. The guys over at PY forums have a pretty keen eye as well. ;)

Here are a couple more pics of the stamping. One is still fuzzy but it shows where the holder hit the body to the left of the numbers where the 2nd clearer pic does not show it due to linkage being in the way. Thanks for the help on this guys.

Yep. Looks good to me. All the right depressions from the stamper and correct font. As for the dust boot, I will leave that to someone else. ;)

The accl pump rubber boots and metal retainer are the same for all Ram Air Q-jets.  They are also NLA, and quit showing up in rebuild kits recently......Cliff
