Nozzle Drip
« on: July 20, 2016, 01:09:46 PM »
Hi, Recently rebuilt my 7040264 Quadrajet with your HP kit. Carb will idle with the throttle plates closed and I have full
control of both idle mixture screws. No nozzle drip.  When I increase idle RPMs to spec for auto trans I see the nozzles start to drip. Is this normal or not. This carb has no APT feature. Bypass air is also blocked off.  Also do I need to adjust the small screw for the idle air bleeds. It is closed right now. Car is 1970 GTO 400 with summit 2801 cam 9.5 comp.
Manifold Vacuum is 15hg at idle.

Idle tubes .036
Idle channel.043
LIAB .070
UIAB.052
A pump hole .026
MAB .070 Main Body
MAB .070 Air Horn
Main Jet .073
Primary Rods .042
Power Piston  is Dark Blue

You definitely would benefit from having idle air by-pass.  I'd start with about .050", that should cure the nozzle drip.

Remove a small manifold vacuum hose and re-set the idle speed and see if it helps.  If so then add some bypass air.

For that engine/cam combo for sure it will like some to be happy....IMHO....Cliff
