A kind soul gave me this carb, they bought it from some outfit called national carburetor,
They said it ran great on their corvette but they went to fuel injection,
So im curious would it be good for my mild 454 thats just a cruiser?
Also concerned it looks modded or hacked at the adjustment screws and something appears blocked with epoxy,
Thanks for any help,

IF it ran great why would they go to "fuel injection"?

I've seen a lot of carbs from that source and suspect that's why they gave up on it and went another direction........Cliff

In this case i believe the guy wanted to step up to fi as an upgrade perhaps a little bragging rights, lots of chest thumping in the c3 vette world,
So your advice is trash this carb?

you don't really need to trash the carb but it may take a lot of work to get it right . they like to plug off the bypass air and a lot of other things that take time to fix . most are fixable just a lot of monkeying around . take it apart and tell us what you find . fwiw.

Agreed, take it apart and see what they've done to it.  Right off you'll find the power piston hanger arms bent and metering rods uneven in the jets.  Cheap parts used, and "generic" calibration as well.

I get those sent here all the time, matter of fact have one on the bench right now that looks fantastic, but it is JUNK and we gave up on it.  They drilled out the threads where the fuel inlet seat screws in and pressed in some POS assembly that woln't let enough fuel in to keep the bowl full.......Cliff

Thanks,
Not what i really wanted to hear but what i feared
i feel it would be better for me to start with a known good one from a good source than mess with one that likely has issues.

Take it apart & measure stuff before you throw it. Might be OK to work with.
