1985 non electronic mopar Q-jet found.
« on: November 02, 2010, 08:40:48 PM »
Strolling through the local pick n pull yard last week, I was looking for a set of heads for my mopar pickup which I am in the process of building an engine for. I noticed a very ugly looking Dodge van painted with a house roller in a dark green color (ugh!!) Noticed it was a 1 ton so I popped the door. Bingo, there sat the 360 and much to my surprise, a Q-jet sitting in top of a factory spread-bore intake. I always thought the Q-jets used on Mopars in the mid eighties wee of the electronic variety. Obviously I am wrong. I am still feeling sore from removing basically the whole top end of the motor with hand tools. Toting all that iron in a wheel-barrow took a toll on my stamina and lungs (I know, quit smoking now).   Oh why do they put the Mopars as far away as possible  at the junkyards. LOL !!  Just thought I'd share. (got the carb here somewhere, not handy though.Post later with numbers and a pic If I can figure that out.)
BTW, two thumbs up for jamesF for the picture posting info!!

The used them in the mid 1980's on the 360 4bbl truck engines.  Chrysler finally gave up on the Thermoquads, which were used in the 70's after the AFB's and AVS's would no longer pass every tightening emission standards.....Cliff
