I HAVE A 1985 5.0 MUSTANG WITH THE FACTORY HOLLEY 4BBL. MY QUESTION IS, WHY IS THERE AN ASSIST SPRING UNDERNEATH THE FLOAT? MY NEXT QUESTION IS WILL IT MATTER IF I REMOVE IT? THE SPRING SIT IN THE BOTTOM OF THE FUEL BOWL AND IS IN CONSTANT CONTACT WITH THE FLOAT. THANKS

It acts like a dampner, to help stabalize the float on rough roads, hard braking, etc.....Cliff
