« on: December 30, 2011, 08:59:50 AM »
I called the shop two or three days ago and the receptionist told me to come here and post my info for you to see so here goes.

Lightly ported vortec heads 1.94 and 1.5 valves

Lunati 60103 camshaft @.050 227 IN 233 EX ADV DUR. 268 IN 276 EX LIFT .489 IN .504 EX LSA 110 ICL 106
700r4 transmission built to withstand 600hp (just a precaution) 2400-2800 stall
3.73 posi 12 bolt rear 28x12 sportsman sr tires.
Weiand stealth vortec intake
Spread bore adapter.
Now the Carb

also has large air bleeds in airhorn
i have already bought a rebuild kit from you for a different carburetor that i messed up so most of that stuff will switch over to this one.
i have 76, 70, and 71 jets that i scavenged from other carburetors
have M, N, and O hangers and DP and DH sec rods. i have already modded the air flaps to open 1.25 inches according to your measuring method. i do also have your book so you can refer me to that if needed.
Any more questions just ask,
Thanks,
Logan

For that much camshaft in a 350 engine, it's going to want a lot of idle fuel and some idle bypass air.  I'd go with the third idle recipe in the book.

Several ways to go with jetting, we would install smaller airbleeds here, and go to smaller jets and metering rods.  This cleans up the fuel curve nicely compared to large jets and small metering rods and trying to retain the large MAB's.

We have everything you would need to do it either way....thanks....Cliff

Hi cliff thanks for the reply. Just bought some wire gauge drill bits to get the carb all set. Once that is done I'll call the shop for air bleed bushings/restrictors and jets and rods. Just have one question. Right now I have mechanical rod linkage for the carb and am going to switch it to cable style and also add a 700r4 so I'll have to have a tv cable too. Just wondering what you recommend for brackets and such. Also I have a square bore flange intake so I was looking at the moroso qjet adapter the 2" tall one. Any other ideas are welcome. I have porting tools so if there is anyone to open it up manually I can do that also.
Thanks,
Logan

Okay thanks for the reply. What brackets work best for throttle cables and throttle valve linkages?

I'm running that same carb on a '73 chevelle. I believe that number was from a 76 caprice, 400ci.

Anyhow, I'm running a 200 4-r with a factory TV cable. I'm using a TCI bracket 376700. $23 from summit. This bracket looks identical to the one found on mid 80's Oldsmobiles with 307/200 4r. Works great. You'll have to use a later '70's throttle cable to snap into the bracket.

I have Everything sized up as per #3 recipe. just now need to buy Primary Rods, Jets, Sec Rods.
Was wondering if you sell a bushing for the main idle bleeds in the main body. mine are about .110 and your recipe wants them to be .07. do you have any of those? plan to call the shop on thrusday morning and order the stuff. thanks.

We have drive in type and screw in type, in any size you would want.  The castings must be tapped to accept the screw in restrictions....Cliff
