800 cfm carb on a 350
« on: June 20, 2012, 08:44:25 PM »
I have a 17057530 800 cfm carb on a stock 350. Are the Idle Bypass holes way to big for a small block. I have had people tell me yes and people tell me no. The idle bypass I am talking about is to the outside and below the primary bore and in this picture has something plugging it.

it has 70 main jets and 39L rods. A local carb shop said that should be ok on this engine as it is a stock 350 but going to get a cam, intake and headers soon then some vortec heads in the distant future.

Those are just the passages leading down to the baseplate.  The actual idle bypass air holes are in the baseplate.

I would stick with the stock jets and metering rods in that unit.  Rebuild it with good parts, and do some testing.  It will let you know if it needs more fuel at any level.......Cliff
