idle problem

 >:(hi im new here, i have a 78 camaro with a 350 bored 30 over with cast iron heads 0441 ported and polished with 517-518 lift cam with a 248 der, turbo350 with 3500 stall and 10 bolt poss with 342 reargears. i got my carb from summit built by jet performance . its a stage2 it didnt idle in gear at all so i sent it back to johnny the tech there he did something to it and it now idles at 1100 in park and drops down to 750ish in gear untill driven then it has a problem idling at lights and drops down to 550 and back up to 750 and back down feels like its going to die i have played withe the idle screws and apt screw it seems rich and looks like fuel is running at bottom of carb by throthle plates please help .....george

That much cam in a 350 engine will require custom tuning.  It needs a lot of idle fuel and idle bypass air.

From what I've seen, the JET builds are "generic", and attempts to get them to custom tune usually end up with the same results that you are seeing.....Cliff

so whats my next step ? i picked up your book and am reading it. theres a guy here(in monroe,wa) that says he can tune it but wants it for a week(the whole car) and wants a min of 350 bucks almost as much as i payed for the carb. im running out of money ....george.... carb #17059203-2278ccb

here is where you get real familiar with how the q-jet works then tear it down and find out exactly whats in it and how its setup book shows you everything to them. then post it all on here and then cliff and everyone else can help you dial it in. only way to be able to point you in a direction wish there was a different way

Needs it for a week?  Should be able to dial the carb in for what you are doing in an hour or so.....Cliff
