mixture adjusyment
« on: June 22, 2009, 12:39:49 PM »
Cliff, I have been running the q-jet you built for me for a few months now(works great by the way) and I just had some head work done and of coarse put new spark plugs in. I took out some of the spark plugs today to do a reading and it seems I'm running a little rich on the right side. Should I make an adjustment with the idle screw or the APT?  The plugs have about 30 miles on them.

Bill, reading plugs is difficult, if not near impossible.  They can get blackened up simply on a cold to warm start-up.

Evaluate the carburetor in all areas, and fine tune the idle mixtures screws for best idle quality at the leanest setting(s).

Same with the APT, best part throttle performance at the minimum metering rod height.....Cliff
