I am going to install a new cam in a 1970 Pontiac 400 with #12 heads (SD Performance) prepped. They have Comp Cams 995 springs with 1.52 rocker arms. The cam is a Comp Cams Extreme energy 224/230 with a 110 LSA. It has 17cc dished pistons with a zero deck. The heads need a little work (guides) so now is the time for a cam change, as I am not very happy with the Comp Cam. The HP peaks @ 4200 rpm's and is dead before 5000 rpm's. This motor is going into my sons 1974 GTO. It will have an M22z 4 speed transmission (2.98/1'st, 2.04/2'nd, 1.47/3'rd, 1.0/4'th) and 3.08 gears with 235/60/15 tires. It will have 2.5" exhaust and long branch exhaust manifolds. This will be a street car with an odd trip to the track. I was thinking about the Crower 60918 cam with 1.65 rocker arms (because of the springs). I am not opposed to using Rhoads lifters. I should be able to get the compression ratio between 9.3 and 10.5. with some head milling. Also, the Summit 2801 cam seems to be an exact copy of the Crower 60918 cam? Any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
